eleQtra has developed an innovative off-grid solar solution, Solar eleQtra™; with this initiative, eleQtra aims to empower people living in off-grid communities with affordable, powerful, clean solar energy. Solar eleQtra™ is currently operating in Uganda, with planned scaling up and expansion into eleQtra’s other target markets, including Ghana and Mozambique, as well as Zambia, Benin, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal.
eleQtra has been working closely with the Ministry of Health in Uganda to identify priority health centers for electrification and is pleased to announce the installation of a Solar eleQtra™ unit at the Buwolero Health Center II, Buwenge Rural, in Jinja District of Uganda. The Solar eleQtra provides reliable power supply to the health facility, powering sterilization, refrigeration, charging for telephones and laptops, and lighting for the treatment room, administrative office, labor ward, children ward, and cold room.
The Buwolero Health Center currently serves a population of 5,000, and the enrolled nurse works with a midwife, two nursing assistants and a health assistant to run the out-patient clinic, treating common diseases and offering prenatal care. Both the patients and staff benefit from the installation of the Solar eleQtra™, and the total number of patients seen at the health center increased by 94% following installation.
Each Solar eleQtra™ unit has a design capacity for each compact unit to deliver up to 5 kWh per day of reliable capacity to off-grid customers with an estimated average energy output of 3.1 kWh per day for a typical installation in Uganda. eleQtra is committed to supplying off-grid health centers with reliable, clean and affordable energy through the Solar eleQtra™ to empower communities and strengthen COVID-19 response.
